Nowadays, public and private organizations in all sectors face an avalanche of digital data on a daily basis. While at first glance this appears to be favorable for our knowledge-based society, in many ways it is a burden. Data is of great value only after it has been refined and analysed, in order to produce information and knowledge that can be used for decision making in a particular domain of interest. All market analysis firms agree that business success is largely based on how organizations effectively monitor and analyse data to predict future trends and make the best decisions.
Both industry and the EC demand skillful Big Data specialists, yet current programs are not adequate to produce them. The BDMA program has been designed for addressing this challenge, by offering:

  • the first curriculum in Europe covering the broad scope of scientific and technological fields supporting today’s and tomorrow’s BI and BD needs, jointly designed by world-renowned institutions,
  • a two-year course taught in English, including three choices of specialization and mobility, and considering ethical aspects and horizontal skills mandatory for induction into European society,
  • strong connections with research and industry, offered by 5 main partner HEIs cooperating with 9 industrial associated partners, 2 regional public authorities, 14 HEIs around the world, and a European HEI network, all contributing to the program and its development.

These features are making the distinctiveness of the BDMA Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree: combining data management and data analytics skills complemented with an approach of the business context, to give a holistic approach of BI and BD.
